Upcoming Opportunities to Learn More about Community Rights

Hello Friends of the Driftless, 

In the last 15 months hundreds of people in our region have attended workshops about the Community Rights approach to protecting our land, air, water, and culture from unchecked corporate exploitation. We have come out of these workshops on fire to do what needs to be done. 

We hope you'll come learn about it, in either a 3-hour or a 2-day workshop, in MN or WI. Look below for details. 

Sat-Sun, Sept. 20-21 in Augusta WI: 
We the People Are More Powerful than We Dare to Believe: First Steps in Dismantling Corporate Rule. (more info and registration below)

Mon. evening, Sept. 15 in Winona, MN: 
You are invited to attend a 3-hour workshop to learn the history behind how corporations have been steadily gaining power through undermining democracy, and to discover how the community rights movement provides a new approach to protecting our local communities by exercising our inherent right to govern ourselves.

More than 160 communities in nine states have launched community rights movements and have passed legally binding, locally enforceable community rights laws. Paul Cienfuegos is a regional leader in the community rights movement working to dismantle corporate constitutional so-called rights.” Paul has over 30 years of experience as an educator and community organizer of concerned citizens nationwide.


A sliding-scale donation of $5-$25 is requested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Space is limited. Please RSVP at communityrightsmn@gmail.com

Please plan to arrive by 5:30pm for a light meal and sign-in. Workshop will begin promptly at 6:00pm.

Community Rights are about the inherent right of a local majority of residents to protect the health and welfare of their local communities. This can apply to: 
  • land use and property values 
  • water protection 
  • air quality 
More than 160 communities have passed legally binding, locally enforceable ordinances – each of which defines what the community wants, reins in corporate so-called “rights,” and stops legal but harmful corporate activity dead in its tracks. 

WE INVITE YOU to register for our Community Rights Workshop being offered: 
September 20 & 21, 2014 (Sat. & Sun.) 
8:30 coffee, tea, cocoa light food, 9am promptly – 6pm 
Augusta Community Center, 601 Main St, Augusta, WI
Donation: $50-$150 per person. Lunch, snacks, and drinks provided. Larger donations will help to defray costs for those with fewer resources. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
